Sharon Hamilton –Seal Brotherhood Hero Series True Blue Seals: Zak

We met Zak and Amy in the novella: Seal Brotherhood, True Blue Seals Series Premier (November 5, 2015). After Zak left to try out for the Seals and Amy found a job in San Francisco, she was a witness to a terrorist attack and Zak went to San Francisco and saved her from another terrorist attack and countless others lives. He loves her and wants her in his life but he wondered if Amy could handle being married to a Seal who is on missions and in harm’s way a lot.

We pick up with Zak and Amy in the latest True Blue Seals: Zak. Amy was flying from San Francisco to Coronado for a visit. Zak wanted to make sure that Amy knew what she was getting into before they were married. He introduced her to the area, the team and their wives and children. This resulted in Amy assured Zak that she was in this with him forever. Zak jumped on that and insisted that she move to Coronado now and marry him before he deploys on his first mission in just a few days.

On his first mission, Zak was injured and would require a lot of future surgeries including cosmetic surgery, in his future. His prospect with the Seals could be over. He doesn’t feel that Amy deserves this because he was not the same man she married. Zak was shutting down and freezing her out and her heart was breaking.

To find out if this recent tender marriage between two people who seemed destined for each other can make it though this challenge.

What didn’t work for me?

1) This book is a very emotional read with details that you don’t want to be eating and reading. I often wonder why an author would write a book with such graphic, sickening details in a Romance novel. I read Military Romance novels because I like the action and heart stopping speed and of course scorching hot passion. If I want this type of “reality” I will go and a Tom Clancy book knowing what I will get. I don’t expect to get “this” in Romance novels.

2) This book just ends. This is one book that needed ending on a high note with miracles and injuries not so bad he can still be a Seal and knowing that Zak and Amy will make it. This author has ending a lot of her novels this way. It just ends. While I understand a Series is a “slice” of the lives of those in the novel, but when it ends without resolution and many threads/issues still hanging I wonder if I should continue to buy all her Military Romance Novels as they come out. I want happy ever after – “and know that it is happy ever after” with no, or very few, strings/issues still dangling.

Wow! Loved this story. It shows what any armed forces man or woman goes through whenever they are injured in battles. I LOVE the prayer at the end. God bless all who fight for our country's freedom. Great job Sharon! And as always great job J.D. for the narration. I listened to this book in 5 hours.

I loved Zak & Amy story.
I love Sharon's books. I love how she researchers, et all she knows about the military life. It's in her blood. I enjoyed how they always have a HEA.
This was different because all Zak had to overcome. I can't wait for Alex

About the Author
Arthur Kohl is a program manager in the Rocketdyne Division of Rockwell International. He previously worked for the Fluor Corporation, where he was Chief Chemical Engineer in the Research Division. He has been awarded many honors for contributions to chemical engineering. He is a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and is listed in American Men of Science and Who's Who in the West. He has been awarded more than 25 patents in gas purification and other chemical engineering fields.

Richard Nielsen is a Director of Process Engineering at Fluor Daniel's Irvine, California office. His 20 years with Fluor Daniel include work in gas treating, gas processing, and refining. He holds a BS degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, an MS degree from the University of Southern California, and an MBA degree from the University of California, Irvine.

I was delighted with the packaging and quick delivery

I have been wanting to buy this book (which is a classic on the subject) for some time but held off as it worked out too expensive when adding mail charges to Australia (it weighs 5 lbs!). On re-checking I found Amazon's current price very reasonable and jumped at it. I was delighted with the packaging and quick delivery.

This book was clearly written by someone who wanted to show you how smart they are, not teach you. The chapters include pages of redundant information, mixed in with good information that is written in such a confusing way it is nearly impossible to understand. The author forgot he was supposed to be teaching the material, not showing off his convoluted method of communication and knowledge of the english language. If your teacher assigned you this book, get the study guide and find a good youtube channel to help you. The problems on the Wiley homework are not even covered in the book. Get ready for a frustrating class.

Just what you would expect an accounting book to be.....

Love the loose leaf style of this book. It makes it so much easier to work with than the bound text. You can just take the chapters with you that your are currently studying and leave the rest at home for reference later. Only warning I can give (and it has nothing to do with the seller, they were great to work with) is that the self tests on the publisher's website contain errors. Some of them do not have a correct answer to the question (they are true/false and multiple choice). A couple of them had a correct answer to choose from, but when the test was corrected on-line you were marked as incorrect, but the answer that they listed was the answer that you had indicated. Good Luck with your accounting classes.

The content appears fine but if it takes me twice as long to ...

Clear as mud. The layout would send a child into a seizure, multiple sections on every page circled or shaded in with a different background color which makes it legitimately hard to read. The content appears fine but if it takes me twice as long to read this as it does any of my other textbooks, which cover more advanced concepts, it doesn't really matter.

I LOVED THIS BOOK!

Lucy Shoreman's husband Artie is a cheater. When Lucy learns this she confronts him only to have him confess there have been two other affairs during their four year marriage. To cope with Artie's infidelity Lucy leaves home and immerses herself in work for six months to deal with his betrayal. Then she receives a middle of the night phone call from her mother, he's gravely ill. "Artie needs you. He is your husband still, after all. And it's very bad form to leave a dying husband."

Lucy returns home but still can't bring herself to forgive Artie. After more than a few drinks Lucy picks up the phone, calls up all the former sweethearts in Artie's little black book and announces, "Artie Shoreman is dying, Please call to schedule your turn at his deathbed."

What happens next surprises everyone, the sweethearts begin to show up. From the young, tattooed and pierced Elba to Artie's former high school teacher, the elderly Mrs. Dutton with many in between. An unlikely friendship begins to form with some of these women and you're pulled along an emotional roller coaster with Lucy.

Asher's writing is truly amazing. I laughed, I cried and it seemed that I could truly feel Lucy's emotion in her words. I couldn't believe how fast I got to the end of the book. Along with Lucy's road to forgiveness there are two other story lines that develop bringing a surprise ending to this incredible story about love.

Not a page turner

In Bridget Asher's "My Husband's Sweethearts," Lucy contacted her dying husband's sweethearts so that they can say their farewell. Even though Lucy separated from Artie after discovering that he cheated on her, Lucy still loved Artie, and was having a hard time having to grasp the idea of him dying. By inviting his sweethearts over, Lucy hoped that she would be able to go through this difficult time with them, and at the same time satisfying her curiosity about them. Soon, the parade of women started coming, and Lucy actually formed friendships with two of them. She also discovered things about Artie that she was not aware of before, which made things more complicated.

The premise of the book sounded interested, but the novel lacked depth and the characters were not drawn out the way they should. I find a hard time relating to any of the characters in the book. There was definitely a potential, but at the end, the book was not very engaging. It was an okay read with an interesting premise, and potential readers are better off getting the book from the library.

Lots of laughs and fun with My Husband's Sweethearts

Lucy Shoreman always knew her husband was popular with the ladies, but four years into their marriage she'd expected him to give up the skirt-chasing ways of bachelorhood. When she discovered his flirtations with a woman Lucy knew only as `Springbird', she was more than a little upset. When dear Artie cheerfully revealed there'd been two other affairs in their post-wedding years, Lucy's rage skyrocketed and she left him without hesitation.

That was six months ago. Artie is now dying and Lucy must return home and care for him. The first night back they fight, leading Lucy to demand why she has to be the only one to deal with Artie's bad times when she had to share the good times with all his lovers? Artie challenges her to call his `sweethearts' and invite them over, and in a huff Lucy storms out. Several drinks later, however, Lucy warms to the idea and begins dialing Artie's old sweethearts to schedule their deathbed appointments.

The very next day they start showing up. There's Elspa, a former druggie utterly devoted to Artie because he saved her life. Elspa's polar opposite Eleanor also arrives. She hates Artie passionately and came specifically to make him miserable. Then there's The One Who Became A Lesbian After, The Russian, The Sign-Language Stripper, The Mother + Daughter Set...as the parade of exes marches on Lucy begins to reconnect with her husband and bonds with some of the other women, but will she be able to forgive him before the Grim Reaper becomes Artie's final visitor?

My Husband's Sweethearts is hilarious. There's silly chapter titles (Chapter Twenty-One: Eavesdropping is an Undervalued Life Skill) and the book reads quickly; it's perfect to read all in one go or in short, ten minute intervals so it is a wonderful "emergency" book to carry around for bus rides and poolside reading. The dialogue is witty and the characters are just wonderful. Each one has a different reason for being in Artie's life, and for coming back to see him now. It's a playful book with some truly poignant moments. Chick-lit for non chick-lit readers. (hmm...now that I think about it, I'm not sure I'd call it chick-lit, to be honest.)

But syncretism is not a comfortable state of mind, and economists often jettison it for misplaced confidence and arrogance, especially when they confront questions of public policy. Economists are prone to fads and fashions, and behave too often as if their discipline is about the search for the model that works always and everywhere, rather than a portfolio of models. Their training lets them down when it comes to navigating among diverse models and figuring out which one applies where. Ideology and political preferences frequently substitute for analysis in choosing among models.

So the book offers both a defence and critique of economics. Economists' way of thinking about social phenomena has great advantages. But the flexible, contextual nature of economics is also its Achilles' heel in the hands of clumsy practitioners.

This is really a guide for people to learn how to read music notations/symbols. It does not really teach you how to read music fast. I was hoping to be able to read music sheets faster, and this book does not really help with that.

About the Author
English-born Thomas Paine left behind hearth and home for adventures on the high seas at nineteen. Upon returning to shore, he became a tax officer, and it was this job that inspired him to write The Case of the Officers of Excise in 1772. Paine then immigrated to Philadelphia, and in 1776 he published Common Sense, a defense of American independence from England. After returning to Europe, Paine wrote his famous Rights of Man as a response to criticism of the French Revolution. He was subsequently labeled as an outlaw, leading him to flee to France where he joined the National Convention. However, in 1793 Paine was imprisoned, and during this time he wrote the first part of The Age of Reason, an anti-church text which would go on to be his most famous work. After his release, Paine returned to America where he passed away in 1809.

Incredible piece of work

Tom Paine wrote the "Age of reason" over 230 years ago and it stands the test of time. His assessment of the Bible and his systematic approach to applying reason and logic to decipher whether it is the Word of God or a book written by men is extraordinary. He was one of the few who actually *read* the Bible and then peeled it back for examination. Paine concludes the Bible is not the word of God, it was written by men, loaded with inconsistencies, errors and can not prove authenticity of authorship (e.g., Moses did not write the Torah or first 5 books of the Bible). Paine was a Deist and makes a great case for his belief system. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants a thorough analysis of the Bible from beginning to end from a very smart man. Brilliant Religious Discussion

A brilliant work that reads almost like a modern piece of writing. The sheer scope of evidence offered as well as the arguments presented make this a must-read for anyone who seriously contemplates the role of religion and belief in our scoiety. I would suggest this as a must read for everyone preparing for a life in the religious sector - whether minister or priest or rabbi or imam. These are not necessarily individual arguments that need to be addressed (though they are pretty staggering as such); but taken as a whole, a truly "person of faith" needs to explain (to himself, if no one else) how these items Paine presents fit into the beliefs held so strongly.

I liked this book. People who are interested in Thomas Paine should be interested in reading this book... One of the things that was especially interesting is the author's writing style and ability to get his message across. Overall, this book was very well written and I highly recommend to those who have not read. To those who have read it - read it again!

This book is a compilation of high-yield, at-a-glance summaries for various topics on which pathologists frequently need information in a quick reference format while at the microscope (or when cramming for the boards). The authors are early-career pathologists who have compiled this book from the perspective of pathologists-in-training. The focus is not organ-based histologic criteria, but rather everything else that goes into pathologic diagnoses but is difficult to keep committed to memory. The emphasis is on immunohistochemistry, special stains, grading systems, molecular markers, tumor syndromes, and helpful clinical references. Also included are morphologic summaries that encompass high-yield material cutting across all organ systems, such as an illustrated guide for microorganisms, tumor differentials, and an illustrated glossary.

The book has a unique format in that the information is presented primarily in tables and diagrams accompanied by minimal explanatory text. The guiding principle was to boil the information down to the essentials but with just enough commentary to be accessible to a newcomer to pathology. This book is intended to serve as a ‘peripheral brain’ for pathology residents where frequently needed information is readily accessible and easy to navigate. The book may also be of interest to practicing pathologists as a quick reference by the microscope.

Total game changer - every resident and practicing pathologist needs this book

This book is a total game changer. I'm a PGY1 and about 6 months into the practice. I was recommended this book by an upperclass resident and very glad that I bought it. Every resident needs to own this book. There is a section that has illustrations that show the differential expression of CD markers in lymphocytes. It's a very difficult concept to learn from tables typically found in large text books. But this book is different - it uses easy-to-understand tables and illustrations to explain the rationale for ordering different IHCs. There's also a section that has the common pathology lingo e.g. Herringbone pattern, different types of rosettes, picket fence, zellballen, and etc.

I suppose the physical construction of this book is fairly poor compared to other similarly priced textbooks. Soft cover, not-so-great looking paper.
Seriously? Totally reminds of med school where everyone was feeling entitled and kept complaining for no reason. Seriously, use your book fund and cop this book now. You won't regret it.

chock full of high yield information

This book is invaluable for residents. If somehow I could transfer this info to my brain I would be the best resident around. From stains to translocation I have actually turned many of the tables in this book into flashcards for my boards. There are also some great general overviews filled with information I haven't found elsewhere.

Jamie Lee Curtis has starred in many movies, but she says that the children's books she has written mean more to her than any of her films. She and artist Laura Cornell have previously collaborated on two bestselling books: Tell Me Again About the Night I Was Born and When I Was Little: A Four-Year-Old's Memoir of Her Youth. This time, we follow a little girl with curly red hair through 13 different moods, beginning with silly: "Today I feel silly. / Mom says it's the heat. I put rouge on the cat / and gloves on my feet." Of course, silly soon turns to grumpy and mean... to excited... to confused, and so on. Recognizing one's own mood swings is a developmental milestone, one that some adults haven't yet mastered! Cornell's watercolor illustrations--wildly expressive and energetic--effectively capture the volatility of our redheaded star. Whether she is happy or mad or dancing a solo in jazz, she is always "full of pizzazz," and this book is, too. Fans of Tell Me Again About the Night I Was Born and When I Was Little may be disappointed in this third offering from the talented duo, which looks at the wide range of human emotions. A dynamic girl describes a different "feeling" per day?13 in all?and the ways in which each manifests itself ("Today I feel silly./ Mom says it's the heat./ I put rouge on the cat/ and gloves on my feet"). Curtis relays her upbeat message ("Moods are just something that happen each day./ Whatever I'm feeling inside is okay!") in verse that is largely sprightly, but doesn't always reflect the changes in mood that occur during the course of the day the girl describes. For example, "Today I am quiet, my mom understands./ She gave me two ice creams and then we held hands./ We went to the movies and then had a bite./ I cried just a little and then felt all right," suggests a variety of feelings other than simply "quiet." Occasionally rhyming couplets take the facile route ("Today I'm discouraged and frustrated?see?/ I tried Rollerblading and fell on my knee"), and the repetitive, driving rhythm doesn't allow the words to soar the way the illustrations do. The puckish artwork, still vintage Cornell, stars a curly red-headed girl whose near-neon surroundings (hot pink, lime green, fiery orange) change in intensity according to the emotion she expresses. A "mood wheel" (for readers to hone in their feelings) rounds out this amiable enough outing that, despite its missteps, may get readers talking about their own emotional swings. Ages 4-8.

PreSchool-Grade 2-Each turn of the page brings a new day and a new mood. Be it excited or joyful, discouraged or confused, the little girl featured here has a litany of reasons to back up her ever-changing attitude. "Today I am cranky so nothing seems right. I have diarrhea and broke my new kite. Mom dyed her hair orange. My dad shaved his beard. My tooth came in crooked. This family is weird." The text is connected by its rhyme rather than its reason. There is so much unrelated jabber that the ideas become almost nonsensical and come across principally as a whine fest. The book does, however, show that "whatever I'm feeling inside is okay!" All of the moods are taken in stride with no judgments made. The emotions are childlike and their visual presentation is exuberant. The watercolor illustrations are splashy and expressive, but at times overpowering. Their loosely focused patchwork of color with little white space to rest the eye brings a busy confusion to the page, adding to the jumbled emotional roller coaster of the text.

Great concept, but disappointing

I love the concept of this book, and I think it's so important for kids to learn to identify and feel okay about their emotions, even negative ones. But, this book says it's for ages 4-8, and I found the references to a boyfriend and a crush on a teacher completely inappropriate. I was really disappointed, and those references changed my opinion of an otherwise great kids' book. Please read the whole book before buying it!

Perfect "ice breaker" for conversations about kid's feelings

My family had been under quite a bit of stress recently. My husband's job promotion required us to relocate over 300 miles away from extended family; therefore this move was bittersweet. And, shortly after we were adjusting to our new home, our dog was run over by a car and killed instantly in front of our eyes. These two major changes in the lives of two small children, 2 and 4 year-old, stirred up a variety of feelings and moods that we needed to talk about. My husband and I are so greatful that this wonderful book, "Today I Feel Silly..." was suggested to read with our children in the recommended book listing included in the last chapter of "The Pocket Parent". Ms. Curtis explains that everyone has feelings that can change each day, from silly to angry to sad to glad. My kids love the fun verse and the lively illustrations that clearly demonstrate it's OK to have all kinds of feeings. The kids especially enjoy taking turns changing the facial expressions of the charcte! r on the mood-wheel to match how they are feeling at the moment. We identify the good and bad feelings with the correct word as they come up. I was amazed when my 2-year-old made a very unhappy face and blurted out, "I sad Mommy, miss Grandma." This book helps us acknowledge and talk further about our feelings when necessary. The kids ask to read it often. We highly recommend this book as well as "The Pocket Parent" to help address your concerns relating to young children in just the right way.

It's a Wonderful Way To Address Children's Feelings.

The illustrations of TODAY I FEEL SILLY AND OTHER MOODS THAT MAKE MY DAY are wonderful for the child who cannot yet read or who is independently spending a lot of time looking at the pictures. The moods jump right out of the pages and allow the child to relate to the feelings he or she might have and learn that they are normal feelings. Another title, THE SMILING STONE, also available from amazon.com, would be appreciated by teachers looking for books that build self-esteem for their theme lesson of feelings and emotions. It differs from "Silly Moods" in that it is about a single emotion but it is similar in that the child can have the feeling, too, as the book ends with the simple verse, "YOUR SMILE casts forever a beam of light". Children will be lucky to have teachers who pick these titles for their lessons and parents and children will have a starter library on this important subject.
