better then any image you could just download and print

After becoming frustrated with the images of periodic tables available to download I decided to buy a few periodic tables. This one is labeled basic but it more then that. It is one laminate page (no unfolding) and includes on the table for each element; atomic number, atomic weight, atomic symbol, if it is radioactive or not, oxidation state, 1st Ionization Potential, the electron (spdf) configuration, and the written out name on both the front and the back. The elements are color coded to indicate whether it's a solid, liquid, gas or artificially prepared.It also includes as extra the major isotopes w % of occurrence, a few metric conversions and units, a side by side graph of Fahrenheit Celsius and Kelvin, a few prefix names, and some laws constants and equations that you are supposed to remember.

My only gripe is that it is smaller print then the Advanced Periodic Table from Quickstudy. I am young and my eyes are pretty good so it is ok for me but I know that anyone with some vision problems might have a harder time reading it. But in exchange for smaller print I also get one page no foldout which is more portable and convenient. I can pull it out, place it in front of my notebook while I am working and just look up to find what I am looking for rather then opening something. To be fair I have both and use both. Additionally, for homework use I bought the big blue poster and framed it and use that almost exclusively at home because large print really is just easier to read.

Best Periodic Table

I am a Pre-Pharmacy student, so I use the periodic table a LOT. This one has way more information than I could ever need at once, which is amazing. When I ordered it, I thought it would have the elemental symbols and their atomic number/weight.
THAT'S ONLY THE BEGINNING
Here is why you absolutely must buy this:
-It's one, flat, laminated sheet with a three-hole punch. Great for use in a three-ring binder, or to just throw between pages in a textbook.
-Includes the following information: atomic number, atomic weight, atomic symbol, if it is radioactive or not, oxidation state, 1st Ionization Potential, the electron (spdf) configuration
-Elements are color coded to indicate whether it is a solid, liquid, gas, or artificially prepared.
-Includes several laws, constants, and equations that you are "supposed" to remember

That is an amazing amount of information for one sheet of paper (front and back). It is super convenient. I ended up buying another couple in case I lose the first one.

Durable and clear

This table has all the information most people would ever need from it. It is also very clear and easy to read. The only gripe I have is that it was made in 2002. They should update it already. Yes there are other tables for sale, but they are not this size (like a sheet of paper) and laminated. So this is still the better choice even versus newer, updated tables.

Official UK Manual

This is the official text for first aiders in the UK. IT is pretty much an Angliscised version of the US First Aid Manual, with changes here and there reflecting transatlantic differences in approach. It is quite well laid out, with plenty of graphic (but not gory!) illustrations of interventions and is easy-to-understand. As a Registered First Aid Instructor/Examiner I find the previous edition to have been better. For starters it was clearer on the management of the unconscious spinally injured casualty, whereas a bit of exegesis is required with this text to arrive at pretty much the same conclusion as the 7th edition (but just more subtly put - a purposefully grey area perhaps?). There are other flaws. Some of the graphics don't correlate with best practice, and the same can be said about the text in places. However, this is no fault of the book itself, which is a must-have for First Aiders as it reflects the official line on approaches and interventions. Flawed yet indispensable, with plenty of food for critical thought!

But during the third session, with no suggestion from Nebel, Candy spontaneously regressed to a young age. After that, Nebel began to record their sessions.

The result of these sessions was that Nebel discovered his wife had been brainwashed into have a second identity, "Arlene," whom a CIA doctor had used to carry messages all over the world. Eventually, Candy was tortured at CIA headquarters, so that her doctor could display her "successful" programming.

"The Control of Candy Jones" sent shockwaves through the corridors of power when it was first published in 1976. After reportedly being suppressed by the CIA, it became an instant classic, and remains so today.

Disturbing but important

Easy reading. Clearly and concisely details the sinister mind control programs of the CIA. Candy Jones' "handler," a CIA "doctor" who uses her as a guinea pig in CIA mind control experiments, is a psychopath who tortures her as if she is simply an object in his experiments. This man most likely was an offshot of the "doctors" who were smuggled into the USA in Operation Paperclip, the program which got the "important" Nazis out of Germany and brought them over here. Important reading for anyone who wants to know the sick and sadistic hidden influences which affect the country. You couldn't make this stuff up. Bain's writing is excellent, as usual.

Having read quite a bit on MK ULTRA and mind control in general, I decided to find out more about Candy's story, having been a celebrity of some renown. It is a great book for many reasons. First, if you have read the likes of Brice Taylor or Kathleen Sullivan, both victims of mind control that involved lots of torture as well, this is different. Candy was limited to deep drug induced hypnosis exclusively, as far as I can tell. As a result, she had only 2 primary personalities, rather than hundreds. Most remarkable is how her personality split, with her innocent consciousness unaware and un-bothered. Her secret alternate took on the rough crude hardened personality that enabled Candy to survive. Some fascinating psychology revealed in this tale. One very interesting result. Her programmer turned out to be the same one who programmed Sirhan Sirhan, who has long been alleged to have been mind controlled when he killed (allegedly) RFK. She names the place of operation in Oakland-San Fran area and other details. To the best of me knowledge, this has never been found or revealed in any RFK conspiracy info. So now allegations are looking a lot more plausible. All knowledge connects, sooner or later. This is a fairly rare book that can only be found used, that I am aware. If you can get it at a good price, don't pass it by!

Some Neat Observations

This book has some interesting thoughts on the authors famous parents, although somewhat harsh on his grandmother - Sara. It certainly illuminates the divide in his family with Elliot, who appears to be a bit of a maverick - he joined the Republican Party and opposed his father's third term.

It's amazing how often those Roosevelt's got married (see page 321) and how many children they had from all their spouses! It's a more or less candid view of his upbringing.

Where it started

This (as far as I know) is the first book to use the term permaculture, first published in 1978, and which has led to a vast array of books expounding on the theory and application of the concept. Mollison and Holmgren define permaculture on page 1 of this book as "an integrated, evolving system of perennial or self-perpetuating plant and animal species useful to man". They go on, through this book, to lay out the basics of the concept, qualifying their definition and expanding on this particular brand of sustainable living. It is inspiring, and practical, and it is easy to see why it has inspired so many other practitioners and authors.

This work is probably not necessary unless you are interested in the history of the concept though. I haven't compared every single picture, but it looks like most of the information in here is repeated in Mollison's follow-on Permaculture: A Designers' Manual, and the vast majority is repeated in the cheaper Introduction to Permaculture. If you are interested in the concept, great, and start with the Introduction to Permaculture. For more pictures and examples of how these concepts work in real life, check out Restoration Agriculture or The Resilient Farm and Homestead. If you decide to get the permaculture certificate, you'll need Permaculture: A Designers' Manual since that's the textbook for the course.

Great info, just repeated and expanded upon in later works, now mostly interesting for historical reasons. Save your money and pass on this one.

In this book, each feature of the language is described using semantic introduction, syntax and examples. Chapter 4 leads to the full semantics of the language by providing definitions of terms, and explaining data structures and algorithms. The book is written with the approach that Verilog is not only a simulation or synthesis language, or a formal method of describing design, but a complete language addressing all of these aspects. This book covers many aspects of Verilog HDL that are essential parts of any design process.

Good reference mediocre for learning.

The book has plenty of code samples, however, many of them have mistakes, making it difficult and sometimes frustrating to study the code. The explanations are not well written when compared to other books (Thomas and Moorby's), however there is some information that cannot be found in other books. An excellent book except for the price and mistakes on nearly every page. If you are already experienced in Verilog, this may be an excellent reference, however, if you are just learning, Thomas Moorby's "The Verilog Hardware Description Language" is an excellent and highly recommended book.

Good book, high price!

I liked the approach of describing the gate model, dataflow and behavioral model, all in one place, unlike other books. The text is mostly very clear. More state diagrams here and there may clarify. Unfortunatly PLI is not really covered. The CD rom contains only the code: other books provide a free (student version) vhdl simulator. At $ 135.00 + tax, the price is high, compared to other similar books covering the same topic.

a great book with almost everything for designers to referen

This book is really a worthwhile book to read and study for advanced topics of designs based on Verilog and Synopsys synthesis tools. The feature-rich topics and details of how the constructs of the designs are made are quite clear and well-written for people involved. The only thing I'm concerned is the price seems to be way way too high to general reader, as it's $135 before tax. Hopefully the price can drop at least 40% less so that everybody can buy it. regards, JKL, San Jose, Calif.
