Our Royal Inheritance!!

Power in the Blood, is a book written to guide readers into digging into the Word of God and understanding our royal inheritance. God has given Sandie Freed a vision and dream about assisting people in breaking strongholds in their lives. The second part of the vision was teaching people the power of their royal inheritance because they belong to Christ. The book will benefit readers into rejecting religious paradigms, teaching readers the many different names of God, and it will help you into crossing into your promise land.

The book discussed the importance of Abraham and how he trusted God in travelling into an unknown land. Abraham had to live by Faith and follow what he knew to be true. Abraham's nephew, Lot picked to live in Sodom, which was a city filled with corrupt people who enjoyed openly sinning. Four kings apprehended Lot and his family and Abraham came to rescue them from the evil kings. Sandie Freed pointed out that Abraham crossed over into his destiny and he protected his bloodline. And when Jesus died on the cross for our sins, we are now in royal inheritance and in covenant with our Creator. I loved how Sandie Freed went into details concerning the four kings and she linked them back to evil spirits. For example, one of the kings was named, "The King of Nations (Goiim): Tidal". This evil spirit name meant great fear and it consisted of causing believers to shrink back in fear whenever the enemy tried to attack.

I would recommend this magnificent book to anyone who isn't sure about the unlimited power of Jesus and what our royal inheritance entails of. I immensely cherished when Sandie Freed shared the concept of the sevenfold spirit which is presented in Isaiah. One of my favorite attributes of the sevenfold spirit was the second one, "The Spirit of Wisdom". King Solomon asked God for divine wisdom from His loving Father. So God was impressed and gave him great wisdom. In today's times, we could all use some more wisdom in fighting the schemes of the enemy. I can testify to having a loving mother who prayed for me to have wisdom beyond my years. And I'm beginning to see this prayer answered daily. This book has ton of scriptures and new ways of revealing the power of Christ's bloodline. I have learned a lot of information that I haven't heard of before. If you're looking for a book, that will instill you with the tools in tapping into the power of being a child of the most high God, then this book is written just for you!

I enjoy all of Sandie's books, but this one is off the chart excellent. There is a tremendous need for us as believers to understand the significance of all that occurred at the Cross. Sandie makes is so very clear how we as believers can stand in our spiritual inheritance due to the Blood of Jesus. I highly recommend this book.

Good info -- will appeal to many different kinds of practitioners

Susan Pesznecker is one of my favorite authors. Her treatment of "magickal" subjects is both scholarly and accessible, based on real research rather than wishful thinking. "A Magickal Retreat" will appeal to readers from every point of the metaphysical spectrum, from those who follow the ancient traditions to the modern cybermage.

A spiritual retreat is about the journey -- where you go and how you choose to get there is up to you. While her writing is from a Natural Pagan/Modern Druid perspective, Pesznecker provides thorough instruction and encouragement to those who wish to seek and recognize the personal landmarks on their own paths, whatever they may be.

Excellent for planning a focused, magickal retreat or study vacation

When I initially bought this book it was with the intention of planning a couples retreat for five days in the forest. I didn't know where to start and even though I had several books I could resort too, I really wanted it all in one reference guide. The Magickal Retreat came to the rescue!

This book is definitely an all-in-one resource guide because there are a lot of areas where she poses things for you to think about and writing activities for you to plan out your own unique journey for special-me time. In the beginning, she helps you define your goals, reminds you that time frames are important and how to hone your retreat to be very focused. Her questions can be a conversation starter with yourself, your significant other, or even with a small group as to what you want to achieve with your retreat.

One aspect this book provides which I really liked was the examples of a themed retreat. For example, a retreat for home arts, or green magick, or psychic arts, and even one for technological magick are just a few scenarios she gives. While I didn't follow these examples for my own creation, seeing how a person might develop their own retreat holiday definitely provided me with help in seeing how to put together my own plans. The book includes a recommended reading section, some basic sample blessings and rituals, and blank formatted pages you can copy and use as worksheets.

Some people may not like the idea of planning ahead, but since we would be without phone, internet and would not be leaving the isolated cabin for five days, a basic framework needed to be put together. For example, we would not have access to a restaurant so I needed to plan on meals and groceries. We would be working with the elements and I knew there would be certain days best suited for that work. There would also be certain days of the week and their significance I wanted placed in our schedule.

Because I have facilitated workshops myself, I really appreciated how Pesznecker encouraged you to lay out a schedule that could be changed or adapted as you went through the week. After all some plans don't work out - or may need to be dropped altogether. Very helpful was the section on how to record your retreat and how to adapt back into the "real" world when you return, something often left out.

While I may have been able to think all this out for myself - given enough time and resources - what I really wanted was a guide to take me through all the ideas in my head. We were planning a couples retreat (not an individual one and the book can be adapted for this), but I hadn't really given a lot of thought to the days of the week correspondences, the time of the day correspondences, or even how we would start and end our week.

This book brings you to a mindful place where you will consider all of the above and more - and start to see how each planned day (loosely - not set in stone) is almost planning a ceremony. In this case it is a ceremony to celebrate you!

If you have never done a retreat, or would like ideas on how to better construct your next one, I highly recommend this book. While it is geared towards an individual, I was successful in using it to plan for two. It also is open-ended to faith so it adaptable to where you want to take it.

Arthur Conan Doyle’s second Sherlock Holmes novel is both a detective story and an imperial romance. Ostensibly the story of Mary Morstan, a beautiful young woman enlisting the help of Holmes to find her vanished father and solve the mystery of her receipt of a perfect pearl on the same date each year, it gradually uncovers a tale of treachery and human greed. The action audaciously ranges from penal settlements on the Andaman Islands to the suburban comfort of South London, and from the opium-fuelled violence of Agra Fort during the Indian ‘Mutiny’ to the cocaine-induced contemplation of Holmes’ own Baker Street.

This Broadview Edition places Doyle’s tale in the cultural, political, and social contexts of late nineteenth-century colonialism and imperialism. The appendices provide a wealth of relevant extracts from hard-to-find sources, including official reports, memoirs, newspaper editorials, and anthropological studies.

Oh my gosh....AMAZING

What starts out as a small meeting with an unknown man turns into a murder mystery for Sherlock Holmes. I don't like to spoil endings, but let me say this: if you think the book is boring at first, don't stop reading: there is a TON of action towards the end.

Mixed quality-- But some excellent stories can be found.

I purchased this book in part on the strength of three 5-star reviews on this site. This is a very handsome hardcover volume at a surprisingly reasonable price.
There are three classifications of stories in the book. First, stories primarily written by Adrian Conan Doyle, with some input from JD Carr. Second, two stories written almost entirely by Mr. Carr, possibly with some slight input from Doyle. Third, six stories written solely by Mr. Adrian Doyle.
Since I have read a number of mysteries by Carr, and expected much, I was most disappointed to find his two stories the weakest in the book. In one instance, after reading the first page I was able to anticipate the entire plot. In the other case, I simply found the story flat, uninteresting, and narrowly derivative of similar stories in the original Holmes canon.
To the contrary, some of the stories by Mr. Doyle cannot be praised enough. One that's typical, "The Adventure of Foulkes Rath," seems up to the work of Arthur Conan Doyle himself. All in all, Adrian Doyle admirably captures the style and brooding Gothic tone that so typifies many of the best stories in the original Holmes canon. Moreover, Adrian Doyle's stories have a kind of life and warmth that brings the Edwardian world alive for the reader.
I would give the book five stars were it not for a few tales that seem off the pace, and decidedly inferior to the others. Alas-- and surprisingly-- these are from JD Carr's pen. Perhaps Carr tried too diligently to write an impeccably logical mystery, where nothing in the denoument was not well provided for in the early story. The effect, unfortunately, was to create a mechanical kind of plot, which made it all to easy for the reader to anticipate too accurately the entire unfolding of the story.
So in this interesting and generally worthwhile book of tales, we might have the amateur outwriting the old master.
All in all, a worthwhile purchase -- and handsome book with great bedtime reading at a very reasonable price.

The best post-ACD collection of Holmes short stories.

Patrick Callahan's excellent review is right on the money, but I'm giving this little book four stars anyway just because, when it's good, it's _very_ good. Some of the stories contained herein -- based on Watson's occasional references to unrecorded (not "unsolved", as the current edition's subtitle incorrectly has it) cases -- surpass some of the elder Doyle's later works. Highly recommended, especially as an antidote to the surfeit of "pastiches" that can't seem to get any of the details right.

Adrian Conan Doyle (with or without John Dickson Carr) tells a straight no-frills tale very much in the spirit of the Sherlockian canon; Holmes doesn't wind up getting married, Watson doesn't turn out to be the real Holmes, et cetera, et cetera. And there are no attempts to link Holmes to fabulous ripped-from-the-headlines figures like Dracula or Jack the Ripper -- these are perfectly ordinary cases of the kind in which Holmes himself was known to delight for their own sake owing to their touch of the _outre_ and the singular features they presented to the reasoner. Solid stuff despite the weaknesses of a few of the tales.

If you want a couple of novel-length pastiches to go with it, I recommend Nicholas Meyer's first two: _The Seven Per Cent Solution_ and _The West End Horror_.
